System Architecture & Clinical Foundations
Understand master-slave kinematics, indications, and electrosurgical safety.
From Privilege to Possibility.
The Academy of Surgical Innovation, in collaboration with MicroPort® MedBot and RCGA, presents the official Toumai™ MT-1000 Clinical Certification. A six-step pathway from theory to independent practice — the same standard used at 35+ hospitals worldwide.
About the Academy
The Academy of Surgical Innovation is the educational platform behind the Toumai MT-1000 Clinical Certification. The curriculum is structured by MicroPort® MedBot — the only company in the world covering the six major surgical-robotics specialties — and delivered in collaboration with RCGA across Latin America.
This is not a course. It is a clinical pipeline: theoretical mastery, simulator-validated competence, dry-lab certification, and proctor-supervised live surgery — until a surgeon is ready to operate independently.
No shortcuts. No symbolic certificates. Real surgical readiness.
The Program
The Toumai certification program is structured into eight progressive modules. Each module ends in a competency checkpoint. No surgeon advances without demonstrated mastery.
Understand master-slave kinematics, indications, and electrosurgical safety.
Execute boot sequences, OR layouts, and self-diagnostics flawlessly.
Drape every component with zero compromise to asepsis.
Manipulate the 3D endoscopic system for optimal visualization.
Strategize trocar placement and dock without tissue avulsion.
Achieve ambidextrous teleoperation through hand controls and pedals.
Install, exchange, and reprocess instruments with digital lifecycle tracking.
Respond to faults, power loss, and surgical emergencies by protocol.
Eight modules. One certification. Zero shortcuts.
Methodology
The Toumai pathway separates learning from doing — and gates one with the other.
Pre-shipped didactic content. Robotic surgery fundamentals, video library, system anatomy, indication review. Completed before any hardware contact.
20 to 40 hours of simulator practice with on-site clinical specialist support. No surgeon touches a patient before the simulator says they're ready.
Initial cases performed under direct proctor supervision, started within 15 days of theoretical certification. Independent practice authorized only when the proctor signs off.
Competence is verified, not assumed.
Who Trains Here
Pathway availability is subject to local regulatory clearance and proctor availability per region.
Validation
The Toumai certification curriculum mirrors the methodology used by hospitals on three continents. Surgeons trained through this program operate against the same competency thresholds applied globally — there is no regional variant of "Toumai-certified."
From the OR
Testimonials from our first Toumai-certified cohort will appear here following completion of proctor-validated live surgery.
What's Included
Structured didactic content shipped pre-arrival. Completed before module 1 access.
20–40 hours of supervised simulator time at the Toumai certified center.
Three intensive days of hands-on training: technical drills, instrument handling, fault response.
First cases performed under direct, certified proctor supervision.
Authorization to operate independently — issued only on proctor validation.
Beyond Certification
Every Toumai-certified surgeon retains access to:
The Pathway
The Toumai pathway is a sequenced clinical pipeline. No step is optional. Each step gates the next.
Aligning your background with the appropriate training pathway.
Pre-shipped didactic content: fundamentals, video library, observation.
20–40 hours of simulator practice with on-site clinical specialist.
Intensive hands-on training at the certified center.
Initial cases under direct proctor supervision (within 15 days).
Independent practice authorized upon proctor validation.
The era of equal access to surgical robotic education has begun.
Why This Certification
Designed and maintained by MicroPort MedBot — not a third-party course built around the system.
Live surgery is supervised by certified proctors. No simulator-only certification.
Same competency thresholds applied across 35+ hospitals worldwide.
New indications, software updates, and advanced tracks accessible to every certified surgeon.
Enrollment is by application. We verify clinical credentials, laparoscopic volume, and institutional alignment before assigning a pathway.
